Motorcycle tour is a format of tourism which is richly acknowledged world-wide by all ages. This tour is being seeked differently. Whom do we owe to the invention of a motorcycle and a motorbike tour?
The much enjoyed motorcycle is a brain child of a German engineer “Gottlieb Daimler”, which was developed in the second half of the nineteenth century. Its first development/design looked like a wooden bicycle having just a single-cylinder and spray-type carburetor. In 1895, the use of motorcycle was acknowledged in London. Bikers were allowed to ride a bike in town with a person in front, at daytime with a flag and at nighttime with a lamp. Nevertheless, these obstacles didn’t stop further motorcycle development.
Thanks to this invention, motorcycle-sports have gained world-wide popularity. 1913 was a remarkable year in the history of motorcycle sports. The first international motorcycle competition were held in Great Britain, it lasted 6 days and 162 racers took part in that game, and that opened the doors for more international competitions. Upon the invention of heavy-duty-motorcycles, motocross competitions as well gained ground. The first motocross competition was held in 1947 and called Motocross of Nations.
Motorcycle-sports are globally acknowledged and Dubai is not an exception. There is the famous Dubai Autodrome and Business Park which boast a 5.39 kilometer race track and recognized as the place for the best races in the world.
A great number of companies offer motorbike rental services, so there are great chances for motorcycle-lovers to experience the thrill of roaring engines and spectacular emotions in a motorcycle tour. One of the longest motorcycle tours was embarked upon by Ashok Kumar and it lasted sixteen years. He commenced his tour in 1971 and traveled about 400,000 kilometers, in which he visited 150 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, America and Australia. This brave journey earned Kumar “the biggest fan of motorcycle-travel” and was recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records. However, another recorded motorbike tour is the trip of the Americans Jimm Rogers and Tabit Estabrook who commenced their journey in March, 1990 and concluded in November 1991, covering 91,766 km and visited 6 continents.
